Rush Order and Cash Sale: Delivery at Order Save, Immediate Billing and Cash Posting
Two order types that compress order to cash. A rush order creates the delivery as soon as the order is saved; a cash sale goes further — the customer collects and pays on the spot, so the invoice is a cash receipt and no receivable is created.

Digital twin
01Customer pays and collects now
A walk-in customer wants 5 EA immediately and will pay in cash. Which order type?
Business scenario
A walk-in trade customer at the plant's sales counter wants 5 EA of FG-2000 now and pays in cash. (A rush order would be used if the customer wanted same-day shipping but normal invoicing.)
All companies, numbers and documents are fictional demo data.
Step-by-step flow
- 01
Customer pays and collects now open in twin
A walk-in customer wants 5 EA immediately and will pay in cash. Which order type?
The order type drives what happens automatically.
- 02
Standard flow is too slow open in twin
A standard order needs a separate delivery and invoice, and posts a receivable for a customer who has already paid — AR then has to clear it manually.
For counter sales that creates extra steps and an unnecessary open item.
- 03
Save the cash sale — delivery is created open in twin
Saving order 10000200 creates delivery 80000900 at once. A cash receipt can be printed from the order.
No delivery due list, no waiting — the goods are handed over now.
- 04
Hand over and post goods issue open in twin
The clerk hands over 5 EA and posts goods issue: stock 200 → 195.
Cash sales still move stock through the delivery.
- 05
Billing posts cash, not a receivable open in twin
Cash sale billing: ₹10,000 to the cash account. Nothing is owed.
The customer has paid, so creating and then clearing a receivable would be wasted work.
- 06
Sale complete in minutes open in twin
Order, delivery, goods issue and cash invoice — all the same day, with no open item.
Both types show how order types automate steps in the same document flow.

Accounting impact
Goods issue for the cash sale
TypicalHand over and post goods issue
- Dr Cost of goods sold (GBB/VAX)₹6,000
- Cr Inventory — finished goods (BSX)₹6,000
Same as any sales goods issue.
Cash sale invoice
Configuration dependentBilling posts cash, not a receivable
- Dr Cash / cash clearing₹10,000
- Cr Revenue — domestic sales (ERL)₹10,000
The cash sale billing type posts to a cash (clearing) account instead of the customer receivable. Which cash account is used is configuration dependent.
Typical conceptual flow. Actual G/L accounts and posting behaviour depend on material valuation, automatic account determination and system configuration.
Movement type
- 601GI for deliveryReversal: 602
Supports same-day sales: rush orders ship immediately, cash sales ship and get paid immediately, without changing the underlying document flow.

Where to look: Availability check · Order type configuration
Troubleshooting
Something went wrong? Work through these checks in order. They are diagnostic questions, not configuration instructions — confirm changes with your system owner.
CHECK 1
Immediate delivery
- Is stock available today?
- Is the shipping point determined?
Interview questions
What is the difference between a rush order and a cash sale?
Both create the delivery immediately when the order is saved. A rush order is invoiced later through normal billing, creating a receivable. A cash sale is paid at once: its billing type posts to a cash account, and a cash receipt can be printed from the order.
